A hand block-printed dress takes considerably longer to make than a machine-printed one. Every length of fabric is pressed by hand, block by block, by an artisan in Bagru or Sanganer — the same two neighborhoods near Jaipur where this craft has been passed down for generations.
That time shows up in the price. It also shows up in the result: no two lengths of fabric print identically, because no two hands press with exactly the same rhythm.
We work directly with block printing workshops rather than through intermediaries, which is part of why we keep production small — there's a limit to how much a handmade process can scale without becoming something else. When you buy from us, you're paying for that process, not just the fabric.
